COLLABORATIVE PROJECT
Our 2017 major collaborative project DRONE432, is led by sound artist Geoffrey Datson.
You will become an ensemble member of a drone orchestra. Lamont Young who trained up some members of Velvet Underground. & Glen Branca who trained some of Sonic Youth both used drone music in their exercises.
You can bring your own instrument, but it must be tunable to frequencies other than concert pitch. Vocalists welcome.
For Drone ORchestra participants:
A musical interval is the space surrounding/between two notes in a scale .Humans seem to love the fifth.
It appears in lots of music, all around the world - these two pitches make a beautiful interference pattern vibrating in a 2:3 ratio.
For example, when you pluck the note A, in the time it beats twice, the D above beats 3 times. It is called the hemolina in greek - "containing one and a half,"
Imagine you are looking down that A string, and can trace the wakes of waves it's vibrations cause, and then, do the same with the D sting. The overlaid pattern of pressure waves produces the a stereoscopic image of the perfect fifth (above). The idea is to build a big sonic cathedral to this plan.
No prior musical experience is necessary. However, if you will require us to provide an instrument on the day, you must register and let us know when you book your ticket.
The project will be recorded, so you will be required to sign a performance release form, and your participation will be credited in any future performance of the work.

VERANDARAGA ACOUSTIC SESSIONS
These are musician sessions and anyone can join in but again, we experiment with different tunings, so your instrument will need to be tunable to other than concert pitch. These are organic and reliant on the combination of musicians there at that moment. There is no guarantee that others will want to play, but they usually do.
You must register and let us know you will be taking part when you book your ticket.
Participants may book at the artist rate.
